A series of workshops developed by sound artist Rian Treanor for the residence at The National House of Artists, an establishment housing dependent elderly people in Paris, one of the participants was over 100 years old. Commissioned as part of Les Siestes Electroniques 2020 program this project invites residents to actively engage with their sonic environment though a series of listening exercises, field recording sessions and devised musical activities.

Using emergent technologies to establish networks of remote participation, residents will collaborate on a new work that explores algorithmic and procedural composition using bespoke software made in Max/MSP.Focusing on the role of interdependence within musical composition and how our unique moment of polarity (between physical disconnection and digital hyper connectivity) can be explored as both social and creative device.
